Vera Theremin (alternatively romanized as Bella), known as 009-11, is a minor character in 009-1. She is part of the Nine Number Group, and exclusive to the anime adaptation. She is modeled after 0010- from Cyborg 009, and is briefly profiled in the extra booklet that came with the sixth DVD release.

Like her sister Alyona, Vera is an electrical cyborg and has the power to deliver a charge from her body (from the negative power generator embedded inside it). She and her sister are able to perform surprise attacks with using their opposite polarities.

AppearanceEdit

In being Alyona's identical twin, Vera has the same flipped-up hairstyle with symmetrically flipped and protruding bangs.

She is shown to wear a blue Nine Number jumpsuit and white scarf in the flashback in episode 8, although the jumpsuit and scarf were respectively colored yellow and orange in the first TV broadcast:

In her appearance in episode 12, she wears a blue scarf, referencing 0010-'s color scheme in the 2001 anime adaptation of Cyborg 009.

HistoryEdit

From the little that is known of the two sisters, they are political exiles similar to Mylene, and originate from somewhere in the Eastern Bloc. The rest of their origin remains a mystery.

Anime AppearancesEdit

AlyonaandVera episode12

Vera and Alyona make a brief cameo in episode 8, being shown with the rest of the team (save for 009-12) in a flashback sequence. The sisters appear in a second and final cameo in episode 12, silently reporting on their mission.

NotesEdit

  • The twins' surname may derive from the Soviet inventor Léon Theremin, who developed the theremin instrument. While their exact Eastern Bloc country is not stated, this could indicate them being of Russian descent.
  • ベラ can represent both "Bella" and "Vera", although these days the "vu" character (ヴ) has also fallen into use to represent "v".
